This prized, large lake is considered a "sentinel" lake by the Department of Natural Resources. That means that Ten Mile Lake is very highly valued as a lake that the DNR monitors closely to help it manage environmental change. Check out this website http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/fisheries/slice/index.html to learn more about what this means.

Ten Mile Lake is one of the deepest and clearest lakes in Minnesota at over 200'. It's also one of the larger lakes in the northern part of the land of sky blue waters at over 5,000 acres.
